Tans can last you a week and a half - two weeks depending on care.
When your tan starts to fade in some areas, you can apply tan extender cream to smooth out/prevent cracking and lengthen the duration.
Avoid exercising or any activity that causes you to sweat until after you have rinsed your tan. Use gentle, high quality soaps or shower gels as opposed to exfoliating or rough gels as using them can take your tan off and make it blotchy. The more you shave and exfoliate the skin the faster the tan will fade. Also, avoid soaking in hot water such as baths or hot tubs as it can shorten the life span of your tan. Chlorine in hot tubs and pools will also bleach the tan and can remove it very quickly.
After receiving your spray tan, it is normal to look dark and tinted (the tint in the solution used depends on the pigmentation of your skin to counteract any base colors and avoid an orangey tan). The color you initially are after your tan is a fair representation of how dark you could be if you choose to let the tan set for the longest period of time (these times vary per solution however most are either 4 hour or 8 hour tans). When it comes time to rinse your initial tan, do not be alarmed if you see color washing off - this is normal! The tint you see after your tan will wash off as well. Try to make the shower rinse quick and avoid using any soaps, shampoos, or other various wash care as it can affect the tan. After rinsing, immediately moisturize as much as possible to protect the tan.
